Renewable Energy

Solar, storage, and grid integration

Utility-scale solar PV, battery storage, and hybrid renewable systems engineered for Libya's climate — from feasibility through long-term O&M.

Why renewables in Libya

Libya has among the highest solar irradiance in the world. Combined with rising fuel logistics costs and growing demand for resilient power, solar PV and battery storage have become a strategic option for utilities, industrial sites, telecom hubs, and remote communities. Technical Solutions delivers these systems engineered for desert conditions — soiling, dust, wind, and extreme temperatures.

Core system components

  • Tier-1 mono PERC and TOPCon PV modules
  • String inverters for commercial rooftops
  • Central inverters for utility-scale plants (1500 V DC)
  • Lithium-iron-phosphate battery storage cabinets
  • Hybrid inverters and EMS controllers
  • Combiner boxes, DC cabling, and surge protection
  • Galvanised steel mounting structures
  • AC switchgear and step-up transformers
  • SCADA, performance monitoring, and remote diagnostics
  • Anti-soiling cleaning systems

Applications

  • Utility-scale solar farms
  • Commercial and industrial rooftops
  • Solar + storage for telecom and SCADA sites
  • Hybrid solar-diesel for remote operations
  • Off-grid power for camps and clinics
  • Solar pumping for water and wastewater
  • Government and ministry buildings
  • Educational campuses

Expected performance

Specific yield depends on site, tilt, and soiling. A well-designed fixed-tilt PV system in coastal Libya can produce 1,800–2,000 kWh per kWp per year; in southern Libya, 2,000–2,200 kWh per kWp per year. Battery systems are sized for 1–4 hours of autonomy at the design load, depending on application.

Advantages

  • Lower lifecycle energy cost than diesel-only operation
  • Reduced fuel logistics across remote sites
  • Lower carbon footprint and improved ESG positioning
  • Modular expansion as load grows
  • Predictable energy budgeting
  • Improved availability for critical loads

Key design considerations

  • Site irradiance and shading analysis
  • Dust and soiling losses
  • Wind loading and corrosion environment
  • Land availability and orientation
  • Grid interconnection studies
  • Battery chemistry and thermal management
  • Cyber security for SCADA and inverters
  • Spares strategy and operator training
